I grew up on a 38 acre farm in Lynden Ontario. I'll be honest with you...I hated it. Too many chores, no neighbours and no cable TV! It's only been within the last 15years that I have really began to love the country. No ambulances or firetrucks to be heard, and clean, fresh air...as long as the farmers aren't spreading manure close by! After having our two children we spend as much time on my parents farm as we can. So far, the kids love it. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Maxemiuk for providing your beautiful farm. It has given us the amazing opportunity to teach our children (the same way that you taught me) about hard work, and some of what nature and Ontario farming has to offer.
Upon one of our many hikes through my parents bush I began to take note of the different types of trees. Further research would prove that the main type of tree in there is....Sugar Maple. Our first year we tapped around 50 trees. The late nights of boiling and bottling would pay off with the most wonderful tasting syrup I've ever had.
We have continued to grow with support from friends and family, and now we have our family business!
There is nothing more Canadian than sweet, pure Maple Syrup. We cook, grill (on our line of Green Mountain Pellet Grill/smokers) and bake with it (check out our recipe page), put it on ice-cream, and of course, have at least one weekend breakfast with pancakes or french toast topped with MaxZim Maple Syrup. I'm very proud to serve it to our guests and family. Try a bottle and you will be hooked too.
